Norma’s Notes
- This is one of my old faithful brownie recipes.
- One time when my daughter had friends over in the back yard, I sent a pan of these brownies out for them to enjoy.
- One of the boys next door loved them so much that we named the cake after him. For the past twenty years we have called this "Shane’s Cake”.
- These freeze well and are always a good option to take to a bake sale, party or as a gift.
- Brownie pans 11 x 7 work the best.
Ingredients
Brownies
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup oil
4 eggs
1/4 cup cold water
Icing
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup milk
1 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Brownie
- Place all brownie ingredients in a bowl and beat with electric hand mixer.
- Put batter into 9 x 13 greased pan.
- Bake approximately 30 minutes at 350 until done in center.
Icing
- Boil brown sugar, butter and milk for 3 minutes in a saucepan.
- Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm.
- Add icing sugar, vanilla and beat until smooth.
- Ice brownies while still warm.
