Two Hour Buns

Two Hour Buns

Norma’s Notes
  • I have never had much success making buns, but this recipe turns out well.
  • I use my Kitchen Aid mixer to mix the dough, but I punch it down by hand.
  • Add a mixture of herbs that you like to the dough and make the dough into a braided loaf.
  • Bake and serve on a cutting board with a few thick slices cut to start things off.
  • The dough works great for cinnamon buns.

Ingredients
3 cups warm water
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
6 tbsp oil
2 tbsp fast rising yeast
2 eggs
8 cups flour

Directions
  1. Mix first 5 ingredients together in a mixer.
  2. Add beaten eggs.
  3. Mix in flour.
  4. Let rise 15 minutes.  Punch down.
  5. Let rise another 15 minutes.  Punch down.
  6. Let rise an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Punch down.  If you still feel frustrated - go find something else to punch.
  8. Form into buns, loaves or cinnamon buns and let rise one hour.
  9. Bake - 350 for 18 minutes for buns.
Braided Herb Cheese Bread
You can also use this recipe to make braided herb cheese bread.

Mix your favourite herbs generously into the dough.

Braid the bread.

Top with additional herbs and shredded cheese.

Smells terrific while baking!
